Abstract:
The basic objective of this study was to eval uate the efficacy of a business game as an educational tool in a group of entrepreneurs. An online competition was based on the business game Global Challenge and involved the participation of 32 entrepreneurs. The participants were organized in 11 independent group s (i.e. companies) that comp eted in the mobile telephone sector. Our findings showed that the busine ss game had a positive impact. The generic competency that was most strengthened by the business game was decision-making. Of the management-specific competencies, the best results were obtained for understanding how a business works and analyzing financ ial information. The most notable utilities of the game were its entertainment value and the active participation of the students. This study allowed us to make an in-depth analysis of the competencies stre ngthened by the business game and evaluate its efficacy in participants who lack management experience
