Professor Titular de Sociologia de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Hellín, 1973.  Doctor en Sociologia per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Les seves principals línies de recerca  són llengua, migracions i empresa. En l'actualitat treballa en el projecte "Exploring Possible Benefits of Bilingualism in the Labor Market and Beyond", promogut per la University of California, Los Angeles. Vicepresident del comitè de recerca sobre Llengua i Societat (RC25) de l'Associació Internacional de Sociologia.
